Top 10 Dog Essentials for Outdoor Activities & Trips

Top 10 Dog Essentials for Outdoor Activities & Trips

One of the biggest perks of our four-legged family members is that they help us stay active. Those 3-4 walks a day can already help to keep the extra kilos off! If you’re the same as us, you love going into the outdoors and exploring new places. Together with our dog, Muppet, we have explored many corners of Europe with the mountain tops of Austria being our big favourite.

When going for longer hikes, it’s important to be prepared. Speaks for itself, but we sure had some moments when we wished we had done better! Some items are not 100% pure necessity, but definitely makes life a lot easier.

Here are our top 10 outdoor adventure must-haves:

#1 Water: PortaBowl Water Bottle for Dogs

There are enough places where clean fresh water is not available, for that we have the Portabowl! 550ML of thirst quenching water with an integrated bowl, making this water bottle nice and compact.

#2 Safety at night: LightUp LED Dog Collar

We use this one all the time, especially during our evening walks. It doesn’t just make your dog the coolest on the block, but also makes sure all cars, bikes & other pedestrians can easily spot him. Safety first 😊

#3 Food/Training treats: SnackPouch Outdoor Treat Bag

Long walks = more energy, which requires us to bring some for our furry friends too. Usually when we leave the house for more than 2 hours. we take this handy snack pouch with us. It's also a great way to get his attentions when he needs to be focused on us.

#4 Fun toy: TumbleBumper Floating Fetch Toy

Okay so we’ve had water, safety and food, and this next one is no less important for our dogs. TOYS! As we don’t want to carry too much stuff with us, we tend to go for the 'TumbleBumper'. Especially because it floats and stays clearly visible even when dirty!

#5 Keep cool: CoolPets Cooling Bandana

It doesn’t only keep him cool, it’s also a cool look! This dog cooling accessory is ideal for the warmer days and you don’t even need a freezer or a fridge to use it! Simply soak the bandana in water, squeeze out excess & shake it out two or three times. The cooling effect will be activated immediately with a happy dog as a result.

#6 Car rides: EasyBreeze Waterproof Car Seat Cover

Dirty car seats and scratched panels are unfortunate incidents when taking our pets on hikes. Of course we always use car seat covers, but it took us at least four to find the perfect one. This seat cover is waterproof, has pockets, protects the door panels and has handy ventilation mesh around the mid console. We’ve used ours for over a year and it’s still in good shape 😊

#7 Safety in the car: DoggyBelt Safety Dog Seat Belt

To be honest, it shocks me to see how many dogs walk around free in the car without wearing a seat belt. Strapping your dog in properly is a must and you should protect them just like how you protect yourself, of course. Two tips: Make sure your dog is wearing a harness and not his collar, and adjust the length of the seat belt. Don't give them too much room to move around. It might be a bit annoying for them, but it's the best way to get them home safe!

#8 Hygiene: HandiPOD Mini Interchangeable Starter Kit

We love it when we can save space and the all new HandiPOD including biodegradable poop bags, an LED flashlight and a hand sanitizer (how relevant 😀) does just that. KONG is known for their quality products, but this one is most definitely a personal favourite, so handy!

#9 Drying: Royal Dry Towel

Rather a dry than a wet dog in the car 💧. If your dog is anything like ours, he likes to move around whilst being dried making a regular towel hard to grip with. The Royal Dry Towel has two sleeves to stick your hands in, helping you to hold your dog in one place. And that’s not all! The ultra absorbent material will make sure your furry friend is extra dry!

#10 Safety & injuries: First Aid Kit for Dogs

Luckily, we haven't had to use it, but can sure come in handy! If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation where your dog is injured and needs medical attention (knock on wood), this kit will buy you some extra time. Make sure to read the instructions or watch tutorials before you leave, no time for that when the need calls for it!

If you’ve read up to here, you are going to well be prepared for your next outdoor experience with your dog. Let us know if you want to know more about any of the products, we’ll be happy to share our experience with you.

Enjoy your time together!
